Flood-ravaged Australia braces for more rising water

On Wednesday, the Australian government provided two Blackhawk helicopters to help evacuate all 300 residents from the town of Theodore, one of the worst affected by the floods.

There is so much snow that islanders have started dumping it in the sea - a practice normally forbidden for environmental reasons.

Black ice warning for motorists in Scotland

Motorists have been advised to drive carefully after a warning of black ice on roads across Scotland.
The alert came after drivers were told to limit their speed to 30mph on Scotland’s motorways over the weekend.
The Met Office issued a severe weather warning on Sunday, predicting widespread icy roads until Monday.
Heavy snow is also affecting many roads in central Scotland, with police warning that driving conditions on the A9 were difficult north of Dunblane.
Eastern United States hit by winter storm

A swathe of the US eastern seaboard is being engulfed in a winter storm dumping heavy snow as it sweeps north.
Hundreds of domestic and international flights have been cancelled and severe weather warnings are in place from Georgia to Vermont as temperatures continue to plummet.
