Nigerian security forces have stormed a mosque where militants from an Islamic sect blamed for days of deadly violence have been hiding out.
Reports say scores of fighters were killed in the assault, which came after a third night of gun battles in the northern city of Maiduguri.
Many of the militants have now fled, attacking police stations on their way.
Iran exiles ‘killed in Iraq raid’

Eyewitnesses say Iraqi police have surrounded the People’s Mujahideen of Iran (PMOI) camp and clashes are continuing inside.

Reds and Real agree Arbeloa fee

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Real Madrid to sell right-back Alvaro Arbeloa to the Spanish club.
The move is subject to a medical and worth about £3.5m to the Reds, who signed the 26-year-old for £2.6m from Deportivo La Coruna in January 2007.
Spain international Arbeloa had one year left on his Anfield deal so could have left for free next summer.
BMW to quit F1 at end of season

BMW will withdraw from Formula 1 at the end of this season.
The German car manufacturer, who took over Sauber in 2005, have cited “current developments in motor sport” as the reason for their decision.
BMW are the second major manufacturer to leave the sport in eight months after Honda’s withdrawal in December.
Spanish barracks hit by car bomb

A car bomb has exploded in the northern Spanish city of Burgos.
The blast tore the front off a high-rise barracks of the paramilitary Civil Guard, injuring 46 people, mainly with flying glass.
Police blamed the attack, which took place at around 0430 local time (0230 GMT) on the Basque separatists Eta.
‘No doubt’ sunbeds cause cancer

There is no doubt using a sunbed or sunlamp will raise the risk of skin cancer, say international experts.
Previously, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) assessed sunbeds and sunlamps as “probably carcinogenic to humans”.
But it now says their use is definitively “carcinogenic to humans”.
