Around seven million people in the UK are involved in illegal downloads, costing the economy tens of billions of pounds, government advisers say.
Researchers found 1.3m people using one file-sharing network on one weekday and estimated that over a year they had free access to material worth £12bn.

Speaking after Chelsea’s FA Cup final win over Everton, Ballack told BBC Sport: “I haven’t signed yet but I have agreed for another year.”

The polls are the first held since the territory declared independence from Georgia last August with Russian help.
Georgia regards the elections as illegal; it sees the territory as still part of Georgian sovereign territory.

Three policemen, two members of Hamas and another man were killed in a gun battle when police went to arrest the Hamas men in a dawn raid in Qalqilya.

Pakistan’s operation against Taliban rebels in the Swat valley region should be over in the next few days, the country’s defence secretary has said.
Syed Athar Ali told a meeting of Asian nations in Singapore that only “5% to 10% of the job” remains.
The army has said it will pursue “hardcore” rebels after recapturing Mingora, the main city in Swat.
Phil Spector gets 19 years to life for murder of actress

Music producer Phil Spector was sentenced Friday to the maximum sentence of 19 years to life for the murder six years ago of actress Lana Clarkson.
Slumped, stone-faced and wearing a dark suit and bright red tie, he sat silently throughout his sentencing by Judge Larry Paul Fidler.
